Summer was a blazing interlude for yacht manufacturers from Palermo, Sicily, to Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., as temperatures soared and Yachting editors climbed aboard new models. In Palermo, the founder and president of Aicon, Lino Siclari, hosted a lively evening musical performance by a tempestuous Sicilian bandlots of hair-tossingcomplemented by fire-juggling dancers. Suddenly, at midnight, a spotlight picked out the new Aicon 62 hovering offshore. The following day dramatic pink-granite headlands served as a backdrop for tests of the 62 and just-launched 85. Then it was off to St. Petersburg and the imperial Vinoy Hotel for Cruisers Yachts, where Cruiser president Jim Viestenz unveiled an impressive range of yachts, including the new 390.
