Alloy Yachts has launched Janice of Wyoming, their 12th build to a Dubois design since 1991. The 130-foot sloop was built of aluminum with a walnut interior, and is fitted with a 600 hp Lugger main engine and two Northern Lights generators. She has retractable thrusters fore and aft, and is fitted with a Southern Spars carbon fiber mast and in-boom furling. The low-profile yacht has a beam of 28.5 feet and a draft of 13 feet. Designed for an American owner who plans to use her for both family cruising and formal entertaining, she features a flexible arrangement with two large dining tables. Two guest cabins and an owner’s state-room are aft, with accommodations for six crew forward. Janice of Wyoming carries two tenders, one in a foredeck recess. CRN APPOINTS NEW SALES MANAGER: CRN Shipyard, located in Ancona, Italy, announced the appointment of Vasco Buonpensiere as sales manager for their custom steel and aluminum yacht production from 100 to over 200 feet in length. Buonpensiere comes to CRN with a law degree and several years of experience selling yachts for other well-known European builders. CRN’s 400 employees also build semi-custom composite yachts under the Custom Line brand, with both CRN and Custom Line being divisions of the Ferretti Group. IYC REPS FOR NEWCASTLE MARINE: International Yacht Collection has been appointed the exclusive agent for Newcastle Marine of Palm Coast, Florida. In addition to the yard’s existing Expedition Series, IYC will be selling the new Yacht Series, beginning with the first model, a 164-foot motoryacht currently in the design and engineering phase and expected to launch in December 2007. The builder has a 137-foot Expedition yacht currently under construction and expects to debut her at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show in October. NEW BROKERS FOR TRACY: Dwight Tracy & Friends has announced the addition of two brokers to its Ft. Lauderdale staff. Chris Abberley is a Florida native who trained and earned his captain’s license at San Diego Maritime Institute, and enjoys a wide-based marine industry background. Zach Zahorchak is a Pennsylvania native with a Bachelor of Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and a background in engineering and project management. BENETTI LAUNCHES GALAXY: The first Benetti motoryacht built at the company’s new Livorno, Italy, facility was launched earlier this summer. Christened Galaxy, the 184-foot steel and aluminum yacht was delivered to an Australian owner who will use her for family cruising as well as selective charter. Exterior styling and interior layout are by Stefano Natucci. The interior styling was completed by the owner’s designer in exotic woods, including eucalyptus, European plane tree, maple burl and sycamore. Burma teak parquet is used for decking in several areas, and the pilothouse is completed in oak.

A circular glass-walled elevator provides service from the lower deck to the gymnasium on the top deck. Galaxy has an owner’s suite in light maple burl wood on the main deck, a VIP cabin on the upper deck, and two double staterooms and two twin staterooms with Pullman berths on the lower deck. She accommodates 14 to 16 crew in eight cabins. Galaxy has a top speed of 16 knots and is powered by Caterpillar 3512B diesels operating at 1850 rpm.
