Heesen Yachts in the Netherlands has sold Project Boreas, a 164-foot, all-aluminum yacht that is already one year into construction. Delivery is scheduled for July 2019.
The sale is Heesen’s fifth during the calendar year 2017.
Project Boreas is built on the design and engineering platform that Heesen calls Nova Plus, with a Fast Displacement Hull Form and a draft of 7 feet. Omega Architects is handling exterior design, and Redman Whiteley Dixon is doing the interior décor.
The owner has requested the addition of a flybridge because he wants to drive the superyacht himself, according to Heesen. He also asked the builder to reduce the size of superstructure overhangs, to allow more natural light in the interior. Outdoor seating will be added forward of the bridge for the crew to have an open-air space, and the sky lounge will have windows that open for fresh air.

Heesen says the belowdecks layout will be personalized to suit the owner’s family lifestyle, though the yacht will have a conventional layout for 12 guests, with the master stateroom forward on the main deck and five guest staterooms belowdecks.
What will the power plants be? Twin 1,450-horsepower MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines, for a projected top speed of nearly 20 knots. At 12 knots, the 320-ton yacht is expected to have a transatlantic range of 3,750 nautical miles with fuel consumption of about 25 gallons per hour.
