Dockmate, which makes wireless remote-control systems for yachts, has a new product called Dockmate Red.

Dockmate Red is being marketed as a more affordable solution for boats with the most common analog controls of engines and thrusters. It comes in single or twin configurations with an optional anchor-control module.

“While our industry-leading remote docking systems are packed with the most advanced features on the market like SoftDocking and Throttle+, some boaters don’t need this robust functionality,” Dirk Illegems, president of Dockmate, stated in a press release. “Shorthanded cruisers that are looking for an easy-to-use solution that lets them step away from the helm for a better vantage point or a free hand to toss lines, will love the simplicity of Dockmate Red.”

The fine print: Dockmate Red weighs 5 ounces and has a range of 165 feet. It measures 3 by 6 by 1½ inches, and it’s IP76 waterproof rated. The company says the battery can handle 15 docking maneuvers before needing a recharge.
