Ft. Lauderdale Follow Up

At the 2010 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show U.S. debuts abound.

Vicem Yachts brought the latest launch in their Vintage Line, the new 78 Cruiser, to the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show for her U.S. debut. The 78 Cruiser features twin 900-horsepower MAN Common Rail diesels, which push her to a cruising speed of 14 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. At 10 knots she has a cruising range of 1,050 nautical miles. She can welcome aboard 12 guests and three crew, with a full-beam master amidships, a large stateroom forward with a king berth, and two smaller staterooms (one double and one twin), all with en suite heads. The Ferretti 570 made her U.S. debut at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. The Ferretti 570’s twin 800-horsepower MAN diesels push her to a company estimated top speed of 32.5 knots, with a cruising speed of 28 knots (900-horsepower MANs are optional). The three stateroom, three head layout features a full beam master amidships, another stateroom with a double berth forward, and a twin berth stateroom, all with en suite heads (the head in the twin-berth stateroom has dual access and functions as the day head as well). Pershing Yachts brought their latest, the Pershing 80, to U.S. waters for the first time. A high performance Italian build, the Pershing 80 comes standard with twin 2,030-horsepower MTU engines, which, combined with twin ZF SeaRex 140S surface props, give her a company estimated top speed of 43 knots. The optional 2,435-horsepower MTUs can push her to a top speed of 50 knots. One interesting feature on this vessel is the sliding glass door that separates the main saloon from the cockpit. Designed in collaboration with Besenzoni, first developed for the Pershing 72 but advanced since then, the door has three sections that hydraulically slide to center, and then drop into the floor.
