Nicholson Yachts says the 1971 Trumpy Somerset is available for charter in New England this Fourth of July.

Somerset has two staterooms for a total of four guests. Both staterooms have queen-size berths, making the boat an option for couples who want to charter together and split the weekly rate without feeling like anyone is stuck in a kiddie cabin.

The yacht, while a classic, has been completely restored, according to Nicholsons. She has a new bottom, keel, frames and floors, rebuilt engines, new generators, and a new interior with mahogany paneling that hearkens back to the classic days of motor yachting.

The weekly base rate is $17,400 to charter Somerset from July 2-9. Food, beverages, fuel, dockages and gratuity for the crew are extra.

What’s the history behind Somerset? The same family that commissioned her in 1971 (she used to be called Spindle) owned her until 2010, when new owners took over and did a restoration.
