Wisconsin-based Burger Boat Company has announced plans to build two 48 Cruiser yachts.

The 48 Cruiser will be an aluminum boat developed in conjunction with Vripack Naval Architects in the Netherlands. The first hull already has an owner, who also contributed development ideas.

Hull No. 1 is expected to be delivered in 2018, ahead of the Great Lakes summer cruising season. Hull No. 2 is available for delivery during the summer months.

Each of the yachts will have two en suite staterooms. Power will be twin 600-horsepower Volvo Penta D8-IPS800 engines. Combined with Vripack’s Slide hull design, the propulsion is expected to produce a 30-knot-plus cruising speed and a 35-knot top-end.

What else is new at Burger? The shipyard just launched the 103-foot expedition-style motoryacht Northland, Burger’s first steel-hull yacht (with aluminum superstructure) in more than 50 years. Luiz Debasto handled the exterior and interior.
