The 123-foot Palmer Johnson Axia earned three trophies at the recent St. Barths Bucket Regatta. She took third place in the Grand Dames Class, the Walter Huisman Spirit of the Bucket Trophy and the All Star Crew Award.

That last one is most important to anyone thinking about booking a charter vacation in New England this summer. The same winning crew is now prepping to move the yacht up north, with Axia expected to be available out of Newport, Rhode Island, starting in May. She will be under the command of Capt. Jon Jeffries, fresh from his St. Barths victories.

“He is just a fantastic captain,” says Amy Wachmann, who manages Axia for charter through Northrop and Johnson. “They’ve been in charter for a while now, and they can offer great references from previous clients.”

Axia is a 1990 build that was most recently refit in 2007. She accommodates six guests in three cabins, all in the aft section of the yacht. The master is far aft and spans the full beam of nearly 27 feet, and a pair of twin-bed cabins are just forward of the master.

The weekly base rate to charter Axia this summer will be $65,000. Learn more at http://www.sy-axia.com.
