EP Carry has introduced the Gen2 version of its lightweight electric outboard, adding more power and expanded customization while maintaining the compact form factor that made the original popular with tender owners and small-boat cruisers.

Weighing just 14 pounds, the new outboard delivers 22 percent more propulsive power through an upgraded controller, with no increase in size or weight. Designed specifically for lightweight dinghies and small craft rather than adapted from gasoline-powered engines, the motor can propel vessels up to 19 feet long and approximately 1,000 pounds displacement.

EP Carry says the Gen2 is compatible with 12V, 24V or 36V lithium iron phosphate batteries, giving owners flexibility to choose battery capacity based on range requirements. Depending on boat and battery setup, the company reports cruising ranges exceeding 20 miles at full throttle. An optional Bluetooth battery monitor allows real-time power tracking via smartphone.

For portable tender duty, the company also offers a complete integrated package that pairs the motor with a waterproof battery in a buoyant case weighing 6.4 pounds. The package includes a five-hour charger, security lock and enough capacity for approximately 60 minutes of full-throttle operation, designed to cover typical ship-to-shore use over several days.

New modular features include detachable tiller handles, optional tiller extensions, remote-throttle kits and shaft-length conversion kits, allowing the outboard to be adapted for applications ranging from dinghies and skiffs to kayaks, beach cats and small sailboats. A redesigned transom adjustment system is also intended to improve fit on boats with steep transom angles.

Built in the United States, the Gen2 is upgradeable and serviceable, with wireless firmware updates and a two-year limited warranty. EP Carry says owners of earlier motors have logged more than 73,000 cumulative hours of operation.
