4 Great New Boats

With the fall boat show season right around the corner new launches are making a splash.

4 Great New Boats

Hatteras Yachts will debut their new GT63 (shown right) at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show. When powered with twin 1,900-horsepower Caterpillar C32A diesels (engine options include 1,600- and 1,800-horsepower C32As) the GT63 has a cruising speed of 36 knots, with a range of 440 nautical miles. Top speed is a builder-estimated 41 knots. The GT63 will also be offered with an optional enclosed bridge.

Joining the GT63 will be her smaller sister, the new GT54. The GT54’s cockpit is made for serious anglers, with built in fish boxes, a mounting plate for a fighting chair, and a live well in the transom. Her mezzanine seat will welcome those fresh off the catch with ergonomically designed backrests, armrests, and support cushions. Fitted with twin 1,600-horsepower Caterpillar 32A diesels (twin 1,150-horsepower CAT C18 diesels are optional) she tops out at 41 knots and has a cruise speed of 37 knots with a range of 400 nautical miles. If Tiara Yachts were out on a date, chances are they’d be called a good listener. After taking in customer feedback on their Sovran series — first introduced 12 years ago — they continue the line’s evolution with their latest: the 4500 Sovran. Key features on the 4500 include a change in windshield and hardtop design, eliminating the center window and improving visibility from the helm, a longer swim platform that can accommodate a wider variety of tenders, a transom trunk for increased stowage, and additional portlights allowing more natural light to enter the vessel. Also available on the 4500 Sovran is a sunroof. For more on Tiara’s newest launch, visit www.tiarayachts.com.
