Dockwise Yacht Transport, which usually transports yachts in the 120- to 165-foot size range between the Mediterranean and Caribbean, has just accepted a reservation from the newly launched, 214-foot Galactica Star.

When she is shipped from Genoa, Italy, to the Caribbean island of Martinique, Galactica Star will become the most valuable superyacht ever transported during the company’s 26 years of operation.

Galactica Star is a fast-displacement yacht with an aluminum hull and superstructure. According to Heesen, she has a range of 4,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. The distance as the crow flies from Genoa to Martinique is just shy of 4,000 miles.

It should be quite a show watching Galactica Star load onto the Dockwise Yacht Transport ship in Europe, and then offload in the Caribbean. Dockwise is the only transport company that has “float on, float off” ships that allow the boats to be positioned onboard without use of a crane.
