Baglietto — 160 Years of Italian Boatbuilding is a new coffee-table book that tells the shipyard’s history of creating boats through wars, the economic boom and the global recession.

Editors Roberto Franzoni, Dominique Gabirault and Justin Ratcliffe assembled a collection of writings and images, some of which have never before been published. The book discusses famous owners including popes, heads of state, musicians, writers and entrepreneurs.

Gavio Group, which acquired the Baglietto shipyard in 2012, created the book as a commemorative keepsake.

“Baglietto is a name of the yachting world that has always fulfilled powerful emotions,” Benjamino Gavio writes in the book’s introduction. “It is a heritage that belongs to everyone. At the root, there is the love and the passion for sea. I myself have always been a ship owner. This passion lead me to achieve this important brand that was on the brink to disappear. I feel very proud that Baglietto is now part of an industrial group that can ensure a solid future for the brand and for all those who work for the shipyard.”

Copies are available through www.baglietto.com.
