Yachting‘s Terry Jacome was in Antigua, walking the docks and taking photos of some grand yachts at the 55th Antigua Charter Yacht Show.
The 2016 show was held in the same location as previous years — Nelson’s Dockyard Marina in English Harbour — and it ran from December 4 to 10.
Every December charter brokers, vendors and yachts from around the world attend the Antigua Charter Yacht Show to mingle, view the yachts, meet the crew and enjoy island hospitality. This year’s visitors came from as far away as Australia, Tahiti, Chile and Norway. It was truly an international event with over 84 yachts, 286 brokers and 200 plus vendors.
Highlights of the show included the opportunity to view Coral Ocean, formerly known as Coral Island, — still as innovative and fresh today as she was when built by Lurssen in 1994.
Other notables included the classic sailing yacht Eros, the 197-foot Elysian and 144-foot At Last. Crew and chefs put their expertise to work hosting lunches, dinners and evening yacht hops as well as competing in the 17th annual chef and tablescaping competitions.
