Hakvoort Shipyard has signed a contract to build a 124-foot canoe-stern, global-cruising motoryacht that will launch in 2017.

The deal was made with cooperation from Ocean Independence, whose Ocean Management team will oversee the build. For now, the project is known only by its yard number: YN 250.

YN 250 will have naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and interiors by Felix Buytendijk. The plans call for a displacement hull, flared V sections at the bow, large overhangs and a moderate deadrise amidships.

Accommodations will be for nine guests in four staterooms including a king-bed owner’s suite on the main deck. The VIP and two other guest cabins will be on the bottom deck. Quarters for seven crew also will be aboard.

A noteworthy feature on the main deck will be an amidships fold-out platform that guests can use for boarding as well as swimming. YN 250 also will have dining areas on the main deck, bridge deck and sundeck.

Power is expected to be a pair of Caterpillar C18 diesel engines generating a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 13 knots.
