Video: The Reality of E15 Fuel

Mercury Marine warns boaters about effects of E15 fuel on marine outboard engines.

Mercury Marine, working in partnership with Fox Sports Outdoors host Barry Stokes, has created a video to show what it calls the negative effects of E15 fuel on marine outboard engines.

E15 is a blend of 15-percent ethanol and 85-percent gasoline that is available at more and more gas stations throughout the United States. Some auto manufacturers, along with marine engine manufacturers, have warned that the fuel can cause damage.

“Safety is our number one concern, and it is imperative that we provide the education needed to ensure that boaters know what they are putting in their engine,” Lee Gordon, Mercury Marine’s public relations director, stated in a press release. “We want to make sure that boaters understand the effects that E15 has on their engine before they are 30 miles offshore and it’s too late.”
