Four Hoek-designed superyachts sailed in the St. Barths Bucket, held at the end of March. This Is Us--a 43-meter classic schooner that was launched in 2006 at Holland Jachtbouw--took the win in her class and was named the overall champion of the 47 superyachts competing.
"This Is Us is the only schooner ever built with a lifting keel and sail extremely well in both light winds and heavy airs," explains Andre Hoek in a press release from Hoek Design. "To come first out of an exceptional fleet of vessels is a major achievement for the owners and crew."
Other Hoek Designs also excelled at the Bucket. Firefly, a 35-meter prototype of the new one-design F-class, came in second overall in her class. The 55-meter ketch Marie finished fourth in her class and eighth overall. The 62-meter Athos also participated, and was one of the most spectacular sights as the largest yacht on display.
