Netherlands-based Edorado Marine has just introduced its 7S, a fully electric boat that runs on hydrofoils. The boat was designed by Tom Speer, who is also part of America’s Cup Team Oracle.

Says Speer of his creation, “The hydrofoil design minimizes the required power up to 40 knots. It is stable in pitch, heave and roll, so the boat’s safety doesn’t depend on an active control system, which would be complex, redundant, and expensive.”

The zero emissions 7S should be a quiet, environmentally friendly boat that also, obviously, has some serious performance numbers. Edorado is already taking pre-orders for the model, and the boat is expected to be a hot topic in the very near future. Keep your eye out for it.
