Monterey Boats recently announced it will use newly acquired Blackfin Yachts tooling to produce a line of sportfishermen. In the meantime, the builder is expanding its sport cruiser and bowrider lines with models such as the new 245 Cruiser.
She has an appealing look and big-boat amenities that should help her live up to her billing as a weekender. Don’t let the sleek profile fool you; she has a surprisingly spacious cabin with 6 feet of mid-cabin headroom.
The dinette converts to a double berth. The galley is a one-piece molded fiberglass unit topped by a Corian counter and outfitted with a dual-voltage refrigerator, a single-burner stove, a sink and appropriate stowage. The fully enclosed head can be equipped with an optional VacuFlush toilet. A 19-gallon holding tank is standard.
The 245’s domestic water system is plumbed to include a wet bar in the cockpit. Access to the system is beneath the bar.
At 3500 rpm, the 245 cruises at close to 24 knots and has a range of 187 miles, according to the builder. Owners can choose Volvo or MerCruiser, with options up to 320 hp.
