Hydra-Sports 202 Dual Console

The new 202 Dual Console is the latest in the Hydra-Sports line of 15 models, fitting into the company’s lineup between the 212 and 180 center consoles. The company has been building fiberglass fishboats for nearly three decades, and the 202 is clearly built for fishing enthusiasts. However, she offers some versatility to keep non-fishermen happy, as well.

“These boats are serious fishing boats, and yet can be enjoyed by all kinds of people who go on the water,” Chris Wainscott, the company’s general manager, said in a news release. “With this boat, you get out to your fishing hole quickly and safely, and still get home in plenty of time for photos with your trophy fish.”

An insulated 36-gallon bait well is easy to access in the after middle of the cockpit, rod stowage is to port and starboard, and the bow houses an insulated fishbox. The helm station includes tackle stowage. A starboard pedestal seat with handholds means captains won’t miss out on any action.

The manufacturer’s reported 42-mph top speed and 32-mph cruising speed, combined with a fold-down portside lounge seat and bow cushions with back rests, mean those who prefer not to bait a hook should be comfortable seeing the sights. An integrated swim platform has a swing-down boarding ladder, and ski stowage is below the deck. A 48-quart cushioned cooler is available.

Cruise capacity is 227 miles, according to the manufacturer. The 202’s modified-V hull should offer a dry ride for the eight people or 1,200 pounds of gear she is certified to carry.

Hydra-Sports builds the boat with all-composite, wood-free construction. A foam-filled fiberglass box stringer system lines the boat, supporting the hull and deadening sound.

Other features include a tempered-glass windshield with walk-through door; hydraulic steering; six through-bolted stainless-steel cleats; and an anchor locker. The cockpit has a bimini top and courtesy lights for night use.

A 5/1 transferable limited warranty is standard, covering the hull and most component parts for five years. Retail price with a 150 hp Yamaha is $27,790.
