Holland-based Icon Yachts has made a name for itself building super-size superyachts with sleek lines. So this expedition yacht, designed by Joachim Kinder, is quite different. The pair are promoting the design to owners looking to step into a project that’s already fully engineered and ready to be built.

At 360 feet, the project pushes beyond the boundaries of current expedition yachts. But she still has familiar features. Take, for example, separation of crew and guest corridors and accessways. There are even dedicated elevators for crew and guests each, with a glass-enclosed one for the latter. Of course, anyone wishing to get a workout can climb the internal stairway, which is centrally located. The hike would be worth it, too, as the stairway is designed to be part of the aft superstructure and be flooded with daylight. In keeping with traditional yachts and expedition yachts alike these days, the Icon Explorer Yacht also has balconies. You can see three large ones cascading down the aft portion of the superstructure in the rendering above. Semi-circular ones are additionally situated off the VIP staterooms on the upper deck.

Icon and Kinder are open to an owner’s input as to how the Explorer Yacht should ultimately be laid out. They do state, however, that two custom 65-foot tenders can be constructed, resembling mini versions of the mothership. They’ll be stowed in tender bays to each side at amidships. Guests wishing to take a ride can access the garages steps away from the glass elevator.

Further open to owner input is the hull color; Icon Yachts and Kinder have a variety of renderings showing colors like a rich bordeaux. The engine package has also yet to be determined, based on the cruising patterns potential clients prefer.
