Marjorie Morningstar was the first custom design that Amels built after launching the Tigre d’Or series to great fanfare. The owner of Marjorie Morningstar watched the media hype as well as how those builds performed on the water, making a list of lessons learned before having Amels launch his 170-footer in 2004.
The result is a yacht with smart features from a distinguished builder — not to mention a just-reduced asking price that indicates her owner is serious about selling. Marjorie Morningstar is now listed on the brokerage market at $27.5 million, with Crom Littlejohn of Merle Wood & Associates as the broker.

Marjorie Morningstar is a Terence Disdale design with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. She has accommodations for 10 guests plus as many as 14 crew. Interior décor is by Alberto Pinto and Laura Sessa. The yacht was most recently refit in 2008 and 2012, and she is both Lloyd’s certified and MCA compliant.
Her top speed is 15 knots with a cruising speed of 12.5 knots, driven by a pair of 1,200-hp Cummins KTA 38-M2 diesels. At 11 knots, her range is 4,500 nautical miles — but the new owner won’t need to cruise her nearly that far to enjoy all that she offers.
“I had the good fortune to spend about three weeks aboard Marjorie Morningstar this summer along the Côte d’Azur from La Ciotat to Monaco, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix,” Littlejohn says. “Her zero-speed stabilizers, along with her low center of gravity, provide a great ride.
