Mary South, Editor-in-Chief
Assignments for Yachting have sent Mary up the Amazon, around Cape Horn and all over the wet parts of the world. A former book editor and the author of The Cure for Anything is Salt Water, a nautical memoir published by HarperCollins, Mary has written for numerous national magazines. She is a former member of the USCG Auxiliary, a graduate of Chapman School of Seamanship’s Professional Mariner Training, and was a dockmaster in East Hampton, New York. When she’s not traveling for Yachting, you can often find Mary aboard her 40-foot steel trawler Bossanova in Newport, Rhode Island.

Patrick Sciacca, Deputy Editor
Patrick Sciacca, an experienced journalist, boater and avid offshore angler, grew up in the Northeast just rock-throwing distance from the Atlantic. As a kid, Sciacca honed his boathandling chops onboard his dad’s 31-foot Downeaster. He’s traveled the planet from Brisbane, Australia to Babylon, Long Island, and all stops in between to test and write about more than 150-plus boats. In his spare time, Sciacca crews onboard the Viking 50, Blinky IV. He also holds a 100-ton Master license from the USCG.
Dennis Caprio, Senior Editor
Dennis Caprio began his career in publishing in 1981 as the editor-in-chief of Small Boat Journal. He was the technical editor at Soundings for seven years and has been part of Yachting's team since 1992. Yacht design is his passion, which shows in his column "Design."
Daniel Harding, Jr., Associate Editor
Daniel has traveled every summer aboard his family’s 33-foot Egg Harbor. With his family he has cruised to Maine and the Bahamas as well as dozens of nautical towns in between. He credits much of who he is today to lessons he learned while boating. A 2011 graduate from SUNY Cortland with a degree in journalism, his work has been featured in Newsday, Boating Times Long Island and Men’s Fitness.
