The new Westship 103 The Boss is a tournament sportfisherman with a superyacht interior, a place where you can hook a big one and that your wife can call home.
Westship's goal was to create a turnkey sportfisherman that could be built in less than a year. From design to completion, The Boss took eight months. Most yachts this LOA take 12 to 18 months to finish.
The 103's main deck includes a saloon highlighted by American cherry woodwork. Stained glass increases the elegance factor beyond the standard set by many bare-bones sportfishermen.
The dining area and galley are separate from the saloon. The dining area should seat eight comfortably, and the galley has a walk-in pantry, granite and marble countertops, as well as stainless-steel KitchenAid appliances.
A set of stairs amidships leads to the master stateroom and guest staterooms. The master takes advantage of the 103's full 28-foot beam. Two guest staterooms, one with twin berths and one with a full-size berth, are to port and starboard. A VIP with a queen berth is forward.
Twin 2,000 hp MTU/DDC 16V2000 engines power The Boss' FRP-constructed hull to a top speed of 28 knots. With a fuel capacity of 5,000 gallons, the 103 has a range of 1,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her top speed is 28 knots.
The cockpit includes a 600-pound-per-day ice maker, a Murray Brothers Large Tuna chair with double side gimbals, and 43-foot hydraulic outriggers.
Electronics include a black box system, a Furuno radar and a Northstar GPS. Information from these systems can be viewed from one of six flat-screen televisions on board.
