One of the joys of Europe is the proximity of other towns, regions, and even countries. If you visit the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show, here are a couple of other destinations you should plan on seeing.
Nice
Nice has to be one of the world's most beautiful yet under-rated cities. Perched right on the Mediterranean, in the Cote-d'Azur Region region, about 16 miles from Cannes and 7 miles from Monaco, it offers spectacular natural scenery, wonderful museums (including one devoted to Matisse), a famous flower market, ancient ruins, and more relaxed al fresco dining than you could ever tire of trying.

Antibes
Antibes is a delightful port town, about 6 miles from Cannes. If you like museums, there are a handful of good ones, including the Musee Picasso and the Musee de Absinthe! Hotel du Cap Eden Roc is one of the world's most luxurious resorts and has hosted a who's-who of glamour including Marlene Dietrich, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

St. Tropez
St. Tropez is about 50 miles from Cannes. You can take a boat directly from Cannes during high season and it takes about two hours and avoids the wicked summertime traffic that clogs the Riviera. And, believe us, it's worth it. Once a sleepy fishing village on a remote peninsula, St. Tropez was first "discovered" by artists, writers, and bohemians. After Brigitte Bardot was filmed here in Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman, it became the territory of more glamorous bon vivants who fight for tables at Club 55. And we all remember the famous Bain de Soleil ads and the St. Tropez tan, non? Who doesn't want one of those?
