ALASKAN 68 RAISED PILOTHOUSE
The newest Alaskan, from the drawing board of Brian Holland, is laid out with an owner/operator in mind. Twin 1,015 hp Caterpillar diesels are standard, as are dual gensets and an inverter. The running gear, rudders and stabilizers are well protected by a nearly full-length keel with a bowthruster and electronic controls for ease of handling. The pilothouse features twin Stidd helm seats, as well as a large table and bench. For a late-night snack or hot coffee on the midnight watch, the galley is on the same level as the pilothouse, several steps up from the spacious saloon. The Portuguese bridge, the wide side decks and an aft cockpit are protected by the flying bridge overhangs, and twin stairways lead down from the aft cockpit to a large boarding platform, where a watertight door provides access to the lazarette and crews quarters. On the accommodations deck forward, there's a full-beam master stateroom, spacious VIP guest stateroom forward and a third guest cabin to port.
